  • The Fire Prevention Bureau conducts fire inspections on existing buildings, issues fire code and special activity permits and investigates complaints from the general public about potential fire hazard conditions. This section also acts as liaison for suppression staff that performs residential inspections of multi-family dwellings and school safety inspections.

  • The Fire Prevention Bureau also administers the weed abatement program and helps monitor safe clearance in the interface areas between the wild land and our communities. Members of this section also participate in a multi-agency abatement task force to abate extensive nuisance properties City-wide.

  • When a fire occurs, the fire is investigated by inspectors from the Fire Prevention Bureau. The cause and origin is determined, and if arson is suspected as the cause, Vista investigators work with the Sheriff's Bomb/Arson unit.
