Can I submit my permit application online?

Permit applications must be submitted in person at the Development Services Counter on the first floor of the Vista Civic Center during business hours.  Only qualifying SolarApp+ photovoltaic projects can be submitted online.

How may I obtain permit history for a property?

The permit history of an address may be obtained by submitting the Public Records Request Form in person to the City Clerk's office on the second floor of the Civic Center or via email. 

Does the city have copies of the blueprints of my home? property lines?

The City does not retain blueprints/building plans of residential properties.

How can I determine my property lines?

Property lines can only be established by a licensed land surveyor.  Our Vista GIS map data is for informational purposes only and should not be substituted for a true title search, property appraisal, or survey. The City of Vista assumes no legal responsibility for the accuracy of the data on this website.

How may I obtain the zoning designation of a specific property?

Zoning and General Plan land use maps are now available in a PDF format on the Community Development Department's web page. Please contact the Planning Division at 760.639.6100 if you need assistance using these maps.

What are some tips for starting a business in Vista?

After selecting a site, determine zoning requirements prior to signing a lease or contract by contacting the City of Vista’s Planning Division at 760.639.6100. The Planning Division can assist you in receiving information of the status of your location if you have the proposed business address and a description of the business. The Planning Division will also assist in determining which special permits are required for specific business types.

Anyone doing business in the City of Vista must have a business license. You will need your business address, type of business, and zoning clearance from the Planning Division. An application can be obtained by visiting the City of Vista’s Finance Department.

When does the Planning Commission meet?

The Planning Commission meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.. in the City Council Chambers. Please see Planning Commission Agenda to determine if a Planning Commission meeting is scheduled and what items will be on the proposed agenda.
