Due to the shortage of affordable housing, the pandemic and recent changes in laws, people experiencing homelessness are more visible. Not all people experiencing homelessness are criminals. That is one of many myths that can make people afraid of those living on the streets. People experiencing homelessness are far more likely to be victims of violent crimes than perpetrators.

Crime prevention

The Vista Sheriff's Department actively works to address resident concerns about crime and other neighborhood quality of life issues. To notify the Sheriff's Office to let them know of any suspicious activity you notice so they can follow up, call the nonemergency number, 858-565-5200. Call 9-1-1 for emergencies. Below are a few crime prevention and neighborhood safety resources.
