The purpose of the Senior Citizens Affairs Commission is to make recommendations to and advise the City Council with respect to all matters pertinent to senior citizens in the City of Vista. The powers and duties are set forth in Chapter 2.56 of the Vista Municipal Code.

The Commission promotes the physical, emotional, and social well-being of seniors and provides advice on programs to involve seniors in all aspects of community life.        

There are seven members on the Commission who serve four-year terms; at least three members shall be senior citizens. Kevin Granse, Community Services Program Manager for Senior Services is the Staff Liaison.

Qualifications for membership:

  • Resident of the City of Vista
  • 18 years of age
  • At least three members of the Commission must be 55 years of age or older.

Meetings

Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of every other month at 1:00 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Gloria E. McClellan Senior Center, 1400 Vale Terrace Drive.

Agendas are posted 72 hours in advance of the Senior Citizens Affairs Commission. Minutes are presented to the Commission for approval at the next regular meeting, and are posted after they are approved.
